How many more times will you…
get to pat your dog?
smile at yourself in the mirror?
say I love you to those who mean the most?
get to enjoy the first few rays of sun in the morning?
get to say good morning?
you write down what your goals are for the day?
be able to say Happy Birthday to someone close to you?
take a photo of something beautiful?
not take a photo of something beautiful and enjoy it for yourself?
solve a problem you’ve been working hard on?
get to high five your friend?
get to challenge yourself physically?
get to breathe in that first breath of cold morning air?
stare at the stars and wonder?
read the book you love most?
watch the movie you so adore?
get to share a meal with good people?
press snooze because you don’t have anything to jump out of bed for?
say thank you to the barista who made your morning coffee?
reach out to someone you haven’t seen in a while and tell them you’re thinking of them?
watch the sunset?
watch the sunrise?
get to work on something you love and enjoy?
help someone else?
explore somewhere new?
push yourself to the other side of fear?
get to be a student?
have the opportunity to be a teacher?
hesitate and miss an opportunity?
get to ask your significant other how their day was? Or anyone how their day was?
get angry for being stuck in traffic?
cry? Why are you afraid of crying?
taste your favourite food?
choose someone else’s path instead of your own?
ignore the voice in your head and listen to someone else?
create something of value for others?
think about the number 30,000?
If you’re reading this, it’s likely you will live for about 30,000 days (give or take a few thousand). Each time you go to sleep, the number goes down by one.
Putting this into perspective has helped me appreciate everything a little bit more.
I don’t think about it all the time but it helps to realise how valuable every opportunity is. It makes me think hard how I want to spend the next ~20,000 days of my life.
How many more times will you think about how to spend yours?
